KFNSL:  Introduction

This plane started life as parts from a KitFox Lite ultralight kit.  It’s a team effort between Dave and Matt.  Modified to take a Rotax 503 with a 3.47:1 gearbox to swing a 70” prop, we made a custom motor mount covered the engine with new composite cowl.  It then required longer landing gear with shock absorption.  We added hydraulic brakes, composite wing tips, faired the aft fuselage, added airfoil to the stab, and added a fully steerable tail wheel.  A new instrument panel with custom throttle and choke was added and a new gas tank was made to increase capacity to 10 gallons to improve range with the new engine.  Modifications added 90 lbs to the airframe so compression webs were put in the spars about the strut attach location to hedge against reducing strength at gross weight.

It’s now referred to as a KitFox Notsolight (KFNSL).
